How do I know if my siding needs replacing?
Signs include cracked, warped or loose boards, soft or rotted spots, peeling paint that keeps returning, and moisture showing up on interior walls. Localized damage can often be repaired; widespread problems usually point toward replacement.
Should exterior work be done with a roof replacement?
It can make sense to plan them together, especially where the roof meets the walls, fascia and gutters. Doing both in one project lets the flashing and trim details be handled at the same time.
What causes exterior trim to rot?
Water is the usual cause — from gutters that overflow, missing caulk or paint, sprinkler spray, or poor flashing. Fixing the water source is as important as replacing the damaged wood.
